The Coffee That Ruined My Suit

Getting decent coffee on the road used to be a project. Electric kettle. Aeropress. Filters. Grinder. Bag of beans. I'd brew on tiny desks or on top of hotel dressers because the alternatives were worse: bitter instant, plastic-tasting pods, overpriced café runs that weren't even good.

One morning, I was making my coffee at my desk. I pushed down hard on the Aeropress like always, trying to force out every last drop. The cup buckled. Hot coffee everywhere. Desk. Floor. My only suit.

So I Made Coffee That Wouldn't

I went looking for coffee that didn't exist. Fast without tasting cheap. Portable without the downgrade. What I found was a wall of tradeoffs.

Instant coffee that tasted harsh, flat, burnt. Bottles and cans loaded with sugar and ingredients I didn't want in my first sip. Nothing gave me decent coffee that could keep up.

So I made coffee that wouldn't let me down.

The Incident

Aeropress, travel mug, one rushed press. Suit dies an early death. The problem became clear: getting great coffee on the move is way too hard.
2019

The Obsession Phase

Every trip becomes research. Instant coffees taste harsh and hollow. Those cans and bottles are loaded with sugar and ingredients that do not belong in an everyday coffee. The idea starts forming: coffee that keeps up with you.
2020

Choosing Cold Brew

Taste test after tastes test, cold brew wins. Slow extraction, smooth body, low acidity, and a clean finish. The challenge becomes how to keep that flavor without the fridge, the gear, or the mess.
2021

Finding The Right Partner

The real work starts. Cold brew is brewed in small batches and pushed through early freeze drying trials. Dozens of factories are sampled and rejected because they cannot hit requirements for flavor, texture, or quality. The search only ends when we find a manufacturing partner that meets our uncompromising specs.
2022

Field Tested In Transit

Early samples ride in my carry ons, briefcase, and laptop sleeves. Hotel rooms, airports, at the office, and campsites, everywhere became the test lab. If it does not dissolve fast or taste great, it goes back to the drawing board.
